Why do I need Travel Insurance?

Travelling to a different country, or even to a neighbouring province, travel
insurance protects you and your loved ones. Be sure you're covered when dealing with a family or medical emergency, travel delay or theft. Medical expenses can be very expensive when out of country!

Doesn't my Provincial Healthcare Pay for any medical expenses?

Your Provincial healthcare provides limited coverage for medical expenses outside of Canada. Some provincial healthcare plans don't cover expenses like ambulance services, emergency dental treatment and prescription drugs.

What other Coverages are available?

Trip Cancellation & Trip Interruption Insurance means if your travel plans are cancelled before you leave, or if your trip has been disrupted once it's begun, you can cover that. You can purchase it as part of a package or on its own.

Baggage Insurance pays for the loss, damage, destruction or theft of personal items.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance provides payment in the event of death or dismemberment while travelling by air, sea or land. It also covers death and dismemberment as a result of all other types of accidents.

I already have coverage on a Credit Card, why do I need additional coverage?

Some credit cards provide basic travel insurance. This coverage is often limited, and there are literally 100s of different plans. How do you know what you have? Who will explain it to you? 

Credit card coverage may apply for a limited time period, or be available only up to a certain age. It's often only applicable if the trip is paid for with your credit card.

When do I buy Travel Insurance?

Buy the Insurance before leaving. Your plan should cover your entire trip, from the day you leave to the day you return.

Is family coverage available?

Yes, Family plans are available with certain insurance plans. They're an economical choice when travelling with family. Family plan means individuals 59 years and under consisting of you, all dependent children, grandchildren and/or your spouse.

I'm over 60, with a few medical conditions, do I qualify for Travel Insurance?

Yes, but some exclusions might apply depending on your health status. Please refer to the official policy wording of the insurance you are interested in buying, for more details.

Are sports-related injuries covered?

Yes, sports-related injuries are covered, with a few exceptions. Depending on the sport or activity you're planning to do, you may need to buy additional coverage. Can I cancel a Policy?

Yes, you can cancel most policies before or on the effective date, but not after. If your policy doesn't meet your needs, you can ask for a refund within 10 days of purchasing (conditions may apply). Can I Print a Record of my Policy?

It's easy! After your payment has been processed, click on the Printer Friendly option of the Receipt page, and follow the instructions. We will also send you a summary of the coverages.
